Captain Ted Davisson is an actual and authentic modern day Mississippi River Pilot, and is both Federally licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and commissioned by the State of Louisiana to pilot ships and river boats upon the Mississippi River and its tributaries.

Captain Ted's professional quality photos are taken with a Cannon 18 pixel digital camera and have been featured in numerous prestigious publications over the years, such as Professional Mariner and several large organization's annual calendars for distribution. These photos are also hanging on the walls of private residences, businesses and public organizations around the world. Photography services are available for both personal and commercial purposes plus Custom Calendars and Seasonal Greetings Cards.

Captain Davisson, also known as the "Modern-Day Huck Finn of the Mississippi", has been plying his trade of professional River Pilot for over forty years and during the course of his career, he has served on board such vessels as overnight passenger steam vessels such as the legendary Str.'s Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen, river tow boats, river launch boats, wood hulled tall ships and both foreign and domestic flagged sea going ships and ocean going integrated tugs and barges.

Furthermore, as a matter of record, it was Captain Ted Davisson that was at the helm of the ill fated Chinese registered M/S Brightfield that on the fourteenth day of December 1996, while transiting down the Mississippi River, the ship lost power and eventually collided with the New Orleans River Walk Shopping Center and Hilton Hotel!

Although the overall damage to both the M/V Brightfield, the River Walk and Hilton Hotel was substantial, Captain Ted Davisson was not only exonerated by the subsequent NTSB investigation for any Pilot error, but was actually awarded "Hero" status by both the City of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana for performing his duties in a crisis situation as a Louisiana State Commissioned River Pilot even under the most extreme and adverse conditions and was credited for minimizing the possible potential damage that the incident could have incurred.

Now, Captain Ted Davisson is going to share with the world his photos and images of the sights and experiences he has encountered over his many years of service on the Mississippi River system and he hopes that you will enjoy his photos as much as he has enjoyed his life on the the River. His photographs also appear in Capt. Van Gale's book, Love On The River Batture.
